Maybe back in 1998 an all free marketing campaign could have brought you mass profits. But in todays cyber world, the fact is you have to invest atleast a small amount of money to get visitors to your website. And that is the non-sugar coated truth.

Does this mean that submitting your website to free search engine listings is a mistake? NO. However, the sites that promise you thousands of submissions or tons of free traffic are completely bogus! I have tested most of them out with little or not results what so ever.

Optimizing your website for the search engines is a great way to get free traffic to your site, but it might take a little time before traffic starts rolling in. So that's why you put up a PPC campaign with Google AdWords or Yahoo search marketing, to drive traffic to your website instantly. PPC allows you to choose where you want to be in the search engine ranking. Even that sought after position #1. Writing and submitting informative articles with a signature link back to your website also gets good free traffic.

Just be cautious about websites promising you thousands of visitors for free. They are usually scams.
